Threads Of Deceit

Threads Of Deceit
Written and Published by AJ Slawski

You spun your words like silk,
But it all frayed when I realized the truth,
“You're my world you said”
“I want to be with you until we are wilted flowers”
Both were lies I bought
Like a ticket to a dream, only to wake up in reality

It's hard to love someone so much,
Only to find out that their “Love”
Was really just a mask
That they could hide behind

Some people only want you

When you’re a convenient to them,

But as soon as the tables turn,

They flee off into the darkness

Like a flame being drenched in water

I want to thank you, though,
Not for stabbing me in the back,
Not for staining my sheets with my tears,
Not for leading me blindly off a cliff

No, I want to thank you for showing me

What love is not,

For revealing to me that I am worth more

Than the scars you left on my heart,

For teaching me to check the ice,

Before walking onto it,

For proving that with every word you inflicted,

I have stitched a lesson into my soul

Now I stand a statue, reaching tall,

My shattered pieces glistening in the light,

I've learned to drown myself in the love

You not once bestowed upon me,

So thank you for the scars;

They have become my art,

A testament of my journey, and the

Rebirth of my heart
